LIVE STREAMING

Smart switching for seamless broadcasting

PROLIGHT + SOUND 8-11 April Frankfurt, Germany

S tarfish Technologies is bringing new ideas for switching and insertion in real-time delivery streams. Developed in response to user requirements for broadcast, the latest application includes a seamless switch between a live stream and web page. This functionality was initially developed to provide high-quality coverage of minority and niche sports that can’t justify the cost of a full production crew. A producer/ director, working remotely, can receive feeds from a few cameras at the event and add graphics and insights from the website simply by switching to the live output.

“This is widely used,” said Peter Blatchford, CMO at Starfish. “Broadcasters covering minority sports, or FAST channels adding live content, want the output to be really engaging on very tight budgets. If statistics and graphics services can’t be justified, it makes sense to use existing presentations from the web.”
