LOVE LOCAL
Having first come here to study, the city’s creativity and friendliness have drawn Lika Kobzeva back to stay
One of my favourite places is the Cambridge University Botanic Garden. I like to stroll leisurely along its hidden paths and enjoy the moment absorbing the colours and sounds. I would recommend visiting at any time of year, every season has something to offer. One of the most amazing cultural experiences I’ve had with my son was visiting the Museum of Classical Archaeology (on the University of Cambridge’s Sidgwick Site) after dark as part of the Twilight at the Museums event. The lights in the museum galleries were dimmed for a fun-filled evening of torch trails and quests. It was just magical!
I’ve lived in Cambridge for around ten years, on and off. I came to study a fashion design degree, and spent the most wonderful three years making friends and inevitably falling in love with the city. Then I moved to London, but a few years later I was back in my beloved Cambridge with my son, as I thought it would be so much better to raise my child here in such a nurturing and friendly environment. I love it here because Cambridge is the perfect place to be or become creative. A place where you can find a skilful artist or amazing musician for a project or concert within a couple of hours by word of mouth. I also feel a strong sense of community and support. It’s no doubt the friendliest city; only here will you receive a good morning greeting at 8am from a complete stranger!

they visit the Waterstones bookstore – a beautiful place with a wide selection of books and stationery, a great atmosphere and friendly staff guaranteed. Cambridge University Library is a must-visit as well. Not many people know you can visit the library and cafe with a visitor pass. One thing I’ve never done here, but plan to, is bell ringing at St Clement’s Church on Bridge Street. I’m not sure how loud it will get, but I am pretty sure I’ll love this musical experience.
When people ask me for local recommendations, I always suggest
