Larder than life If you have a little more space to play with, tall larders and walk-in pantries remain a firm favourite, offering a dedicated spot for dry goods, small appliances and meal prep. These secondary zones are a lifesaver when it comes to creating extra room to cook, store and entertain without cluttering the main kitchen. “Pantries have quickly become one of the most sought-after spaces in the kitchen,” comments Massimo Buster Minale, the founder and creative director of home fashion label Buster + Punch. “Homeowners are increasingly drawn to a sleeker, less cluttered look, and want a functional space to stash away appliances that might otherwise be on show. It’s a solution that makes the kitchen feel calmer, more considered and premium.” For Anouska, it’s a solution that she proposes at the very preliminary stages of kitchen design. “A small, well-appointed room tucked away just off the main space allows everyday clutter and domestic reality to be absorbed behind the scenes so the primary kitchen can remain streamlined and sociable. Typically, it might contain the microwave, wine fridge, dried goods and, if a utility, a washer, dryer and sink. The key is defining what tasks you’d rather separate from the core space and tailoring your cabinetry around that.” Clutter-free kitchens Rather than dedicating an entirely new space to storage or forking out for bespoke cabinetry, a well-organised kitchen can be as simple as investing in a couple of new pieces of furniture that will do a lot of the
