A s first-time house buyers, on the property ladder somewhere quieter than the city centre but still with a vibrant community at its heart. Their new two-bedroom apartment at Fusion in Knights Park in Eddington, just outside Cambridge, offers all of this and more. Now, the newly engaged couple are so excited to begin the next chapter of their lives together here. Leonard Chieng and Dawn Lok were looking to take their first step A new lifestyle After more than a year renting beside Cambridge’s green space Parker’s Piece, Leonard and Dawn enjoyed being close to nature but felt it was time to purchase their own home that better suited their lifestyle. They wanted a calmer setting, away from the constant hustle and bustle, yet still convenient for their daily commutes. Leonard, an NHS doctor, and Dawn, a scientist at the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, soon discovered life in Eddington offers the perfect balance. “Life here feels calm but connected,” says Leonard. “It’s thriving, yet there’s still a relaxed rhythm to it. We can stay busy at our own pace while enjoying everything that one of the world’s most famous cities has to offer. Moving has given us a new lifestyle, and we’re really starting to feel a true sense of belonging in this flourishing part of Cambridge. “When we first visited Knights Park, we loved all the green space – it almost felt rural,” he continues. “Eddington is a very desirable place to live in Cambridge, and it’s ideal for our commutes. We’re so close to the M11 and can both be at work
private balconies or terraces overlooking a shared courtyard garden. Like all of Knights Park, sustainability is at the core of Fusion, with triple-glazed windows, high insulation and energy-efficient appliances. Solar PV panels power communal spaces, while a Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery system provides each home with fresh, filtered air to create a comfortable, eco- friendly sanctuary. “Knights Park stood out to us because of its strong focus on contemporary design and comfort,” Leonard explains. “When we walked into the show apartment, I was instantly impressed with the high quality of the build and the innovative and efficient fixtures and fittings that came with the property. We previously rented an older property, so having somewhere brand-new is not only stress-free, but also very special. It lets us put our stamp on a fresh canvas straight away, and the home felt like ours very quickly.” “We have upsized to a two-bedroom apartment from a one-bedroom home, and having the extra space feels fantastic,” adds Dawn. “Our apartment is on the ground floor, and my favourite part is how the outside space opens directly onto the courtyard garden. It creates a feeling of bringing the outside in, and also makes for a beautiful view!” Alongside wedding planning, Leonard and Dawn look forward to becoming part of Eddington’s active community. “The sense of community is one of the biggest reasons we chose Knights Park,” Leonard confirms. “Compared to other developments we saw, Knights Park felt the most welcoming, with plenty of events and opportunities to get involved in. The weekly Park Run was perfect training for the Cambridge Half Marathon. I’m excited to spend weekends keeping fit while meeting new neighbours.” “There’s also a R3FORM studio just a short walk away from our apartment, and I’m very excited to start taking classes there,” Dawn enthuses. “Leonard hopefully will join me too, so it’s something we can do together as a couple in our new neighbourhood.”
