Sancton Wood School C A M B R I D G E

ancton Wood is a small independent, co-educational nursery, pre-prep, prep and senior school for pupils aged nine months to 16 years. The school aims to make each pupil

aware of their innate qualities and skills, and to develop these to full capacity, while creating joy in learning. It is a family-orientated school that provides an outstanding contribution to each child’s social, emotional and academic growth. The unique environment not only identifies strengths to be nurtured, but also a pupil’s challenges that can be addressed with personalised support. Small class sizes across the school equate to an excellent pupil:teacher ratio. This is a key aspect of a philosophy that tailors each pupil’s educational journey. The school’s outstanding pastoral care leads to incredible academic success, proven by its GCSE results year on year. Sancton Wood is regularly named in The Times Top 100 Schools – a remarkable achievement for a non-selective, mixed ability school. It also vindicates the school’s belief that outstanding pastoral care allows pupils to thrive and achieve great results. This year, every single student achieved five or more GCSEs graded 4-9, with 97% achieving these results in English, maths and science and 50% being awarded the top 7, 8 and 9 grades. One student achieved ten grade 9 GCSEs. Principal Richard Settle says: “We continue to be motivated by the huge difference between expected grades given to students that arrive in year 7 compared to the actual results they achieve. However, education is about more than tests and we must keep providing our children with a memorable and happy school life; if we do this, the results will follow.” Sancton Wood instils a passion for life-long learning. A love of learning and intellectual curiosity will form a

key part of the adaptability needed to forge long-lasting, successful careers, as our world changes rapidly. The end of the last school year presented a unique challenge in the history of education. Sancton Wood met this head on with tireless dedication and enthusiasm, as it adapted its excellent standard of education from school to screen. Parents praised the engaging and interactive lessons highly – not only for their fulfilment of continued progress, but also for their pastoral care and community spirit. Sancton Wood is part of Dukes Education. This extraordinary family of schools share the same drive to “inspire, educate and support young people so they can be the very best versions of themselves”. Being part of Dukes gives strength, stability, continued investment and access to a wide network of expertise to the school, while also celebrating its own unique character.
