TAKE-OFF FOR MEDIA SHUTTLE A new relationship was announced in July, between Signiant and the technical partner for content producers for live sport, NEP.

Signiant was selected by NEP for its Media Shuttle, to enable accelerated file-based operations across its fleet of OB trucks, studios and flypacks. Using Media Shuttle, NEP clients can efficiently move media assets and associated metadata to and from the venue; providing secure content exchange for productions of any shape and size across IP networks – without the toil of a truck. “We’re always looking for smart ways to help our clients and

production partners to produce and deliver better content,” explains NEP Group director of US media solutions, Jay Deutsch. “Media Shuttle provides the flexibility to work with our newer IP and UHD

trucks, plus our compact flypack and studio solutions.” Media Shuttle makes it easy to get content off the trucks quickly, and ingested into the desired storage or cloud-based platform.

EUROS 2020: THE STREAM OF YOUR DREAMS

One of the hottest topics in sports broadcast during 2021 has undoubtedly been the coverage of the postponed UEFA Euro 2020. A wave of new technology emerged, including MediaKind’s solution, that delivers OTT coverage of live sports events to customers in Portugal, via Portuguese pay-TV service, MEO. The solution contributed to the streaming of a

huge portion of the event in the country, and, notably, the coveted broadcast of the Champions League final. Engineering director at Altice Portugal, José Pedro Nascimento, says: “For live events such as football, low latency is crucial for ensuring that TV viewers can enjoy all the action first-hand, being the first to celebrate goals being scored by their teams.”

Working with its new MPEG-DASH low-latency technology, MediaKind’s solution achieved a reduced end-to- end video latency throughout the event, ensuring that even customers on Android TV devices received a broadcast-level stream for the event’s duration. “MediaKind enable us to continually enhance live sports content delivery,” concludes Nascimento.
