Our co-curricular programme is special. This is overseen and developed by Hayley Mortimer, who recently joined as deputy head co-curriculum from Taunton School in Somerset. To say she is passionate about providing opportunities for our pupils, from children at King’s Ely Acremont Nursery through to the young people in our Sixth Form, would be an understatement. Hayley explains: “A co-curricular activity or lesson is often the one part of a young person’s education they are in total control of, and in which they are not judged on their performance. A healthy school enrichment programme, like the one we have here at King’s Ely, is one that challenges students to give things a go, to explore the activities on offer and potentially develop passions outside of the academic realm. Co-curriculum enables students to have their voices heard. “Enrichment and education can happen in a variety of different ways. Finding those opportunities through our school’s programme can not only Not only have my teachers done an incredible job of supporting me through my academic journey at King’s, but they have also been like friends to me and so many others throughout my time.
