To move up the scale in terms of power, there are lots of COB lights to choose from. But not many offer the outright wattage of Aputure’s Electro Storm line, which includes a 2600W bicolour LED light and a 1500W full- colour version. The Electro Storm XT26 is a 2600W point-source LED with white CCT and tint control. It has dual accessory mounts, professional connectivity, G/M tint adjustment, advanced liquid-cooling technology as well as an IP65 dust and water- resistant construction. The XT26 features a powerful chipset built to maintain accurate colour throughout its CCT range from 2700 to 6500K, with a G/M colour correction of +/-0.05dUV shift between 3000 and 6000K. It has the universal Bowens mount and new electronic A-Mount, which gives stability to the heaviest of modifiers. Connectivity includes Sidus Link app control, wireless DMX via the latest LumenRadio TimoTwo CRMX chipset, Art-Net and sACN
with fully tunable G/M adjustment so you can get it just right. The unit has a fan to keep things cool and it’s quiet, but not totally silent. You can turn it down in the menu, but not off. The whole kit is weather resistant with a rugged, all- aluminium build, and it comes with a hyper-efficient 62° reflector. Of course, there are the built-in lighting effects such as paparazzi, spark, lightning, faulty bulb, TV, pulse, flash and explosion. And the controller can adjust intensity steplessly from 0-100% with either linear, logarithmic, exponential or S-Curve dimming. From Aputure’s more accessible Amaran range comes a smaller and far more affordable full-colour COB light: the 150c. This COB monolight offers a CCT range of 2700-7500K with G/M adjustment, but set it to HSI mode and get a full-colour RGB
via Ethercon, as well as 16-bit 5-pin DMX512 I/O. The Electro Storm CS15 is a 1500W full-colour point-source LED fixture which also features the dual accessory mounts, professional connectivity, high SSI colour quality and IP65 dust- and water-resistant construction. The CS15 is one of the most powerful and colour-accurate open-face full-colour point-source COBs you can buy. If you don’t want that level of expense or bulk, Aputure’s LS 600c offers a full spectrum of colours as it uses an RGBWW COB chipset. You can use the menus and screen to set all the RGB colours you want, with industry-standard X and Y adjustments, more than 300 gel presets or an advanced HSI mode where you can alter the white point. In terms of CCT mode, this is extremely wide at 2300-10,000K
