LED LIGHTS
including fireworks, candle, disco and throb – plus the new Masters of Light preset packs. These include more than 100 built-in effects, gels and HSI colour settings. For use with flash for stills, there is built-in compatibility with Godox, Profoto, Elinchrom, Neewer and Pixapro. Zhiyun has the biggest range of small light options, starting with the palm-sized M40 LED which pumps out a decent amount of power. Small and affordable lights like this often output around no more than 15W of power. But as its name suggests, the M40 manages an impressive 40W as it is fan-cooled. It is only 320g and really can slip into your pocket. This unit packs in a whopping 176 LED chips, which can put out illuminance of 1050 lux at 1m/3.3ft at its peak 4300K setting, where it will run for an hour on a single charge of its internal 2600mAh battery. Zhiyun’s professional-level lighting includes two funky COB lights that share a lot of technology, but could hardly be more different in appearance. There is the smaller Molus G60, which weighs 300g and is roughly the same size as a Rubik’s Cube. Looking nothing like it at all is the Molus X100, which has a COB LED on the front and a fan and small screen at the back. It also comes with a lithium battery that clips to the side and works as a grip. This rechargeable battery/grip can power an X100 at full power for around half an hour, or plug in the mains adapter with the grip attached to run it and charge the battery. Take the grip off to make it even smaller and run it off mains. The Molus X100 also accepts PD fast charge. With a 100W output, the X100 weighs 385g; add the battery grip and it’s still only 439g. It has a CCT range of 2700-6500K, with 2376 lux, CRI ≥95 and TLCI ≥97. The cubist G60 has a colour CCT range of 2700- 6500K, CRI of ≥96 and TLCI of ≥97. Run it off mains or via the USB-C socket using PD technology.
