veryone knows Riedel as a manufacturer of comms equipment for all aspects of broadcast. What is less well known is Riedel’s on-the-ground involvement in creating specially engineered solutions for

the industry, particularly large global events. “We have developed a huge division, helping deploy large-scale media networks for big broadcast customers,” explains the director of Riedel’s Managed Technology Division, Lutz Rathmann. “These often end up with complex set-ups that we make simpler for our clients.” Under its Managed Technology Division umbrella, Riedel creates holistic solutions, combining different signal transport systems to manage picture, audio, data and IP networks. The company’s vast experience in broadcast technology, working with clients in various scenarios, gives them an edge in providing quality service. Over the years, Riedel has developed a sixth sense for what its broadcast clients need. “We are very close to our clients on the ground and can feel what is missing,” says Rathmann. “We develop empathy for the productions and the technology. If you look at the last 20 years, REMOTE OPERATIONS CENTRE Helping customers approach challenges in new and innovative ways has become centralised at Riedel’s Remote Operations Centre at its headquarters in Wuppertal, Germany. The ROC kicked off in 2018, partnering with the German Bundesliga, designing a new infrastructure for the league’s communications. A hands-free Riedel Bolero intercoms and headset allowed referees, assistants and video assistant referees (VAR) to communicate in real time. One of the drivers for launching the ROC was to give Riedel customers a way to save money while gaining even more control over their productions. you can see we’ve been everywhere and understand the whole event.
