WOMEN’S BASKETBALL IN PRIME POSITION
Amazon Prime Video will be the exclusive global streamer of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) for 16 games per season, as well as August’s Commissioner ’s Cup. The multi-year deal features a WNBA game each week and is Prime Video’s first exclusive global streaming rights for a women’s professional sports league. The opening game between the Atlanta Dream and New York Liberty in May was the platform’s debut in exclusive international streaming of pro basketball. The first nine games airing on Prime Video will show the inaugural WNBA
Commissioner ’s Cup, a mid-season competition consisting of ten fixtures per team. From each of the two conferences, the teams with the best records compete for the Commissioner ’s Cup and a special prize pool, following the Olympic Games. The remaining matches take place throughout the second half of the regular season, after the Commissioner ’s Cup concludes. Prime Video’s coverage of the WNBA will not be available in China, Japan, UK, Italy, Spain, Finland or Germany, where games are allocated in the participating teams’ markets via local distribution partners.
