Adapt is also looking to expand its platform Nuance, which integrates all the different AI models along with its global workforce of cultural ambassadors. What one thing does the company need most? Adapt recently completed its first pre-seed round, securing 15 individual investors. However, its funding is modest compared to some of its larger, VC-backed competitors. While the team anticipates seeking additional capital later this year, they also acknowledge that ‘being scrappy has helped us stay efficient’. Beyond securing funding, Adapt is looking for greater acceptance of AI tools within the localisation space. The company is hopeful that its unique approach – elevating the role of cultural ambassadors – will demonstrate that, despite the challenges of this transition, localisation will continue to be an art form, with skilled artists remaining at its core. Adapt’s slogan, ‘powered by AI, driven by humans’, perfectly reflects this commitment to blending tech with human creativity.

and dubs, Justin Beaudin, a former senior VP at NBC Universal, COO at Deluxe and CTO at Vubiquity, always felt that the translator was too far removed from the overall process. “After all, they created the subtitle or adapted script; there should be much more collaboration between the translator, localisation company and the end customer,” he observes. As the AI localisation wave took off, Beaudin recognised the need for ensuring a localisation expert – an artist – remained at the heart of the process, driving these powerful tools. This vision led to the creation of Adapt Global Studios. Today, the company combines innovative AI tools for transcription, translation and voice synthesis with regional experts, known as cultural ambassadors, to produce high-quality dubs and subtitles for premium content. Adapt’s work is delivered 4x faster and costs 4x less than traditional market rates.
What is it working on right now? The Adapt team, now numbering approximately 24 members, is focused on two key fronts: first, with major studios who are still evaluating the use of AI dubbing solutions. Adapt offers subtitling and closed-captioning services at up to a 50% discount – all while ensuring human oversight preserves overall quality.
