BEAUT Y

WORDS BY DAISY DICKINSON

As tempting as it might be to jump straight into a warm bed without removing your makeup after a long night of partying, it can wreak absolute havoc on your skin, as well as making you feel just that little bit more gross in the morning. So do yourself – and your pillow – a favour and cleanse before crashing out. Murad Prebiotic 4-in-1 MultiCleanser (£38, murad.co.uk) is a gel-to-oil makeup remover, which makes things easier, nourishing with prebiotics to help balance skin while cleaning up and melting away impurities. Cruelty free and gentle enough to use around the eyes, you can be slap dash and still come away squeaky clean. And for something just a little more abrasive, the Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser (£38) polishes and retexturises skin for a renewed glow. If your fluid intake is higher in booze than water, you may find your skin suffers from dryness. As well as the preventative measure of keeping yourself topped up with water, make sure your skin is being replenished. Ole Henriksen Counter Balance Oil Control Hydrator (£28, Boots) quenches thirsty skin without adding oil, so if your skin is on the oily side, this is your mattifying BFF. Or try

t’s December. It’s cold, it’s dark and it’s a little bit miserable, but it’s also party season, which means it’s time for glitz and glam. If you’re planning some hardcore partying – or even just exposing your skin to the frosty elements – it can be a tough time for skin, but with a little self care and some wickedly good products, your post-party damage control should be sorted. There are no lotions or potions that will help your festive hangover though – that’s all on you! It’s probably fair to say that you’ll be getting less sleep at this time of year, so anything you can do to help speed up the positive effects of sleep will be welcome. Time Bomb Throwback Thursday Overnight Peel and Reveal (£48, timebombco.com/uk) promises baby- smooth, fresh, luminous skin overnight. With the two-step at-home peel applied at bedtime, the AHA serum with 10% glycolic acid works while you sleep to dissolve the top layer of dead skin cells, with the dermabrasion cream to buff away in the morning. Also check out the Time Bomb Complexion Cocktail with a shot of B12 (£10). As good as it sounds, and much healthier than the mimosas you may have been quaffing, high levels of vitamins B12 and B3 are on duty to jolt your skin’s own energy production into high gear. Formulated with centella and ginseng, this potent concentrate improves micro-circulation for better skin tone and enlivened colour. If a fragile state leaves you keen to spend more time on your fry up than your skincare regimen, you can moisturise, prime, even out skin tone and add glow all in one go with Time Bomb Glory Days Day Cream (£31). This four-in-one moisturiser contains borage oil, glucose and white flower oils to intensely hydrate, with hyaluronic acid complex for plumping, while micro-reflective particles diffuse the look of lines and leave you glowing.

If all else fails and your skin is feeling as bad as your hangover, you’re in need of some serious TLC to slough away the winter worries. I recently tried the Ole Henriksen Power Peel THE ONE THAT I WANT enough. The three-step process gives you enough product for six uses and comes with two effective little sponges, too. I felt like my skin had been treated to a salon procedure after using the AHA peel and microdermabrasion system. The almond facial polish smells incredible, and is used to polish skin before adding the tingly lemon facial peel, followed by the Hygge hydra clay detox mask. Transforming Facial System (£44, Boots) and cannot recommend it

Time Bomb Powerball Intensive Moisturiser (£37). This thick cream is designed to flood skin with a powerhouse blend of 21 natural hydrating agents that refill and retain essential water.
