Pre-loved kit

and design make it great to use, too. The top-plate is dominated by three large dials, ISO, shutter speed/ exposure mode and compensation. This means you can check key camera settings with a quick glance, rather than referring to a menu. Around the base of the ISO dial is the drive mode, which has speed options, as well as a bracketing setting and multiple exposure. In continuous high shooting, the X-T2 gives 8fps with the mechanical shutter. That ups to 14fps with the electronic shutter. If you prefer using the monitor – which is not touch sensitive – it flips up, and there’s an extra axis for taking upright format shots from low/high level. The contoured body and thumb support means getting a firm grip is simple – it’s no problem walking around with the camera in hand, ready to shoot. A focus lever on the back-plate allows you to move the focus point/zone around the image. With its capable performance and smart handling, the X-T2 is a superb camera – and great value as a pre-loved model. It was launched with a body-only guide price of £1399, and the optional VPB-XT2 battery grip was £300. Pre-loved X-T2s can be found in the region of £400-£500, depending on condition. WC “WITH ITS CAPABLE PERFORMANCE AND SMART HANDLING, THE X-T2 IS A SUPERB CAMERA – AND GREATVALUE”

URBAN COLOUR Compactness and portability make X Series cameras ideal when you want to travel light. Here, the X-T2 was used with the XF55-200mm f/3.5-4.8 at 70mm, using an exposure of 1/800sec at f/8 and ISO 200

MEET ME AT THE CORNER If you enjoy street photography the X-T2 is a very good fit. Its mechanical shutter is quiet anyway, but if you prefer silence then there’s the option of the electronic shutter. Plus, the camera’s autofocusing skills are pretty competent, especially when you want to quickly ‘snatch’ a sneaky shot

Summary Fujifilm’s X Series has gained a devoted following since its launch, with its innovative X-Trans sensor, lens range and choice of different body styles, that is thoroughly deserved. A used X-T2 offers an affordable way into the range – it’s a very fine camera, lovely to use and delivers great results. CLASSICWARBIRD There’s no issue ramping up ISO on the X-T2 when you need to – and image quality remains high, even at faster speeds. Here, the interior of the Spitfire and Hurricane Memorial Museum at Manston, Kent, was captured on a X-T2 with XF10-24mm f/4, using an exposure of 1/20sec at f/4 and ISO 800. There’s no IBIS, but many Fujifilm lenses have OIS to combat camera shake

FLIP IT UP The X-T2’s monitor flips up for waist-level viewing for horizontal shooting, plus it can arranged to do the same for portrait-format compositions

VETERAN The X-T2 does not have the luxury of face/eye detect, but the X-T2’s AF is swift and responsive, perfect for grab shots. Here, the X-T2 was used with the XF50-140mm f/2.8 and an exposure of 1/800sec at f/2.8 and ISO 200

FINDADEALER You can buy or sell imaging kit privately, but it saves time and effort if you deal through a retailer – and there’s added peace of mind. Only kit that’s to standard will be accepted in the first instance, then it is inspected, cleaned, and even refurbished before being offered on sale – usually with a warranty. Each retailer will have its own process, but you’ll generally get a quote on kit you want to move on (whether in person or online). If you are happy with that, a courier will collect it from you, often at no extra cost. Upon receipt, the retailer will check over your items and you’ll get a confirmed quote, assuming it’s accepted. Confirm the quote and the cash will be in your bank account a few days later. Or, if you are going for a part-exchange deal, your new kit will be with you soon. Here’s a list of leading UK retailers offering used and part-exchange services. Several of the dealers have multiple outlets, so please check the websites for your nearest one – or for contact details of individual stores.
