WINNER Nanlite PavoTube II 6C
WINNER Rode Wireless Go II
WINNER Elinchrom ONE
The Nanlite PavoTube II 6C has caught the imagination of photographers and videomakers with its portability, versatility and usefulness. It measures just 25cm and weighs 260g, and this portable rechargeable light is perfect for adding ambience to scenes, used as a main or fill light. HSI mode can give up to 36K colours, it has a special effects mode, and delivers a full hour’s running time at full power – with the backup of being power bank rechargeable.
Videos with poor sound are a turn-off, so it’s really important to record good audio – and not rely on a camera’s onboard microphone. The super-compact Rode Wireless Go II is designed for vloggers, videographers and journalists. It enables the recording of two sound sources at the same time. Or, equally, it can function as a single- channel microphone. The Wireless Go II has a line-of- sight range of 200m and is universally compatible with cameras, computers and smart devices. Plus, you get a seven-hour working life from a full charge. It’s a fabulous piece of kit – so tiny that you can leave it in your bag, ready for instant use. SHORTLISTED • Desview R6 UHB monitor • Rode VideoMic NTG • Saramonic Ultracompact 2.4GHz • Zhiyun Weebill 2
Elinchrom is no stranger to battery- powered studio flash, but its ONE system is something extra special. The ONE head weighs just 1.5kg, and it’s about the size of a high-spec 70-200mm zoom lens. But it’s capable of delivering 131Ws of clean flash lighting, with up to 725 full-power bursts from a full charge, with recycling at just 0.9sec. Add HSS up to 1/8000sec, a bi-colour LED modelling lamp and a touchscreen interface, and the ONE is a location flash light par excellence.
WINNER Kase Filters Double Grad 100x150mm filters
WINNER Rotolight Neo 3
Kase Filters has taken graduated filters to the next level with its innovative 100x150mm Double Grad, which has toned regions at both ends of the filter: use the area best suited to your shot. Two models are available, so if you buy both, you get four filter effects – saving you money and weight. Kase’s quality filters are made from toughened Pro HD glass and feature metallic nano coatings that make them easy to clean, provide scratch resistance and ensure colour-neutral performance. It’s no wonder they captured the imagination of PN readers. SHORTLISTED • Breakthrough X100 filter system • Formatt-Hitech Onyx 85mm and 100mm filters • H&Y Revoring Variable ND+CPL • Marumi Magnetic 100mm filter system • PolarPro Summit system
The Rotolight Neo 2 was a regular winner in our awards, so it was no surprise to see its successor, the Neo 3, also doing well. The Neo 3 is a portable, continuous light/flash hybrid that can be used camera-mounted or on a lighting stand – depending on the shoot. With its array of bicolour LEDs, the Neo has a selectable colour temperature range of 3000K to 10,000K, 360 colours in HSI mode and 2500 filters – and all these are available in continuous or flash mode, with flash sync up to 1/8000sec possible. For content creators shooting stills and video, the Neo 3 has untold potential; and with its touch LED control screen, it’s very user-friendly.
