Hahnemühle has a great reputation as a paper manufacturer of long standing. Its current portfolio of products caters for keen photographers looking for first-class media with outstanding printing performance, longevity and individual feel. The heavy FineArt papers are based on cotton or alpha cellulose, giving them their thickness, weight and lovely tactile nature. Premium coatings ensure lifelike colour reproduction, fine detail retention and rich shadow detail. There is a good choice, whether your preference is glossy or textured papers. In glossy finishes, FineArt Baryta, Photo Rag Baryta and Pearl are three of our favourites to check out – or buy a sample pack of glossy FineArt finishes to try them all before committing to a full pack. The Hahnemühle range receiving well deserved acclaim is the Natural Line family – it has just won the best inkjet media: fine art finish in the PN Awards 2021. There are currently four Natural Line papers made from sustainable raw materials: agave, bamboo, hemp and sugar cane. These plants need minimal care, grow quickly, and don’t need pesticides to flourish – satisfying the brand’s pursuit of sustainability. As a prospective end user, you’ll want to know how the Natural Line papers perform. The simple answer: very well indeed, with impressive colours and rich shadows, even using the generic ICC profiles available to download from the Hahnemühle website.
