FALL IN LOVE WITH PLANT-BASED FOOD AT THESE VEG-LED EATERIES AROUND THE CITY! VEGANUARY HOTSPOTS
1. STEM & GLORY This stylish, 100% vegan restaurant is making waves, scooping up ‘best vegan restaurant’ at the British Restaurant Awards 2022. Each dish is packed full of colour and flavour, demonstrating founder Louise’s philosophy that vegan food doesn’t have to be healthy or delicious – it can be both. “At Stem & Glory, we are firm believers that the best diet is a wholefood one – fresh, natural and unprocessed plant-based foods,” says Louise. Top picks include the flavoursome Korean ‘fish’ taco, pumpkin ravioli and raw raspberry cheesecake for dessert! 2. THE TIPSY VEGAN One of Cambridge’s much-loved indies, The Tipsy Vegan is the place to go for atmosphere and great taste. “We firmly believe that eating and drinking can be enjoyable and indulgent, while also being sustainable and ethical,” says Michelle McCabe, co- founder of The Tipsy Vegan. “Our small dishes and sharing plates are inspired by cuisines around the world and made from scratch in-house, with locally and sustainably sourced ingredients used to create a range of delicious dishes. It means you’ll be able to try lots of vegan food in one meal, which is perfect for Veganuary.” Follow @TheTipsyVeganGroup on Instagram for all the latest news. 3. VANDERLYLE Tucked away on Mill Road, Vanderlyle is a pioneer of plant-based plates in Cambridge. Working directly with producers, chefs Alex Rushmer and Lawrence Butler are committed to creating ingredient-centric dishes and perfectly matched drinks. Offering tasting menus updated throughout the year, you can look forward to remarkable flavour combinations like mushroom and smoked salsify suet pudding with a tarragon jus and truffle panisse, paired with a strawberry and cherry lapsang or Res Fortes rouge. 4. STEAK & HONOUR It’s no secret that Edition is a huge fan of Steak & Honour’s epic burgers, so we’re beyond excited about the recent expansion of its plant-based options. Exclusively at The Tivoli, you can now find the Veganella, which includes lettuce, vegan cheese and a special-blend vegan sauce, all packed into a vegan brioche bun. “If you’re looking to go meat-free every now and again, or giving Veganuary a go, these plant-based patties are seriously tasty,” says Sam Adams, manager of Steak & Honour, Wheeler Street. “And don’t forget, the ’shroom burger remains a firm favourite on our Wheeler Street menu, too!” 5. GUERRILLA KITCHEN A hot favourite on the Cambridge street food scene, Guerrilla Kitchen’s bao hits the spot every time. “At Guerrilla Kitchen, we always offer at least one vegan bao filling,” says founder Jay Scrimshaw. “We’re not really into fake meats, preferring to harness the tasty properties of veggies and tofu instead. For our sticky vegan bao, we freeze the tofu and then defrost it, which changes the properties and allows us to more closely emulate a meat texture. The jalapeno and garlic dressing and gochujang sauce pack a punch, with peanuts adding more texture.” Follow on social media at @guerrillakitch .
