GOLDEN-ERA OPULENCE MEETS INDUSTRIAL CHIC AT RUBICON, THE LATEST EDDINGTON HOMES FROM HOUSEBUILDER HILL. WE TAKE A GOOD LOOK AROUND Style Notes

esigned by the world-class Alison Brooks Architects, Rubicon is Hill’s hotly anticipated new collection of apartments and

itself,” she explains. “Internally, the spec for the apartments has this edgy loft style, with sleek black accents which we used to inform the scheme. We were mindful to bring this into each room, mixing through graphic, linear prints in the soft furnishings and artwork, and bringing gold accents to lift it and keep spaces luxurious.” These show homes have brought the exterior world to their interiors in more ways than one: set amidst leafy streets and swathes of green space, each apartment is fitted with sweeping windows. Those on the top floor boast high-angled ceilings, which allow the outside world to spill in. Natural materials are also at the core of their design: quartz worktops, stainless steel sinks, richly dark wood panels and matte black brassware are thrown into contrast by palate-cleansing white timber and walls painted in neutral emulsion. Pops of colour are a perfect finish, found in the vibrant yellow cushions and brass bedroom lamps. One of Freya’s favourite touches is the large, bespoke sofa dividing the kitchen and living areas. “We wanted to make the most of the space with a corner sofa, which creates a layout that’s perfect for socialising. “Another key element is the hallway wallpaper,” she continues. “Often an overlooked space, we made sure the design intent of the apartment was evident the moment you walked in. We used a ribbed, paintable wallpaper on the lower half of the wall, and again at the top. Chunky beading

The designer responsible for Rubicon’s hip aesthetic is Suna’s Freya Patterson, who sums up the look as: sleek, sophisticated and sumptuous – with a slight edge. “We wanted to create a space that felt in keeping with the opulent, industrial facade, and felt as unique as Eddington

Then, all elements were painted in a sophisticated, soft taupe.” Rubicon meticulously balances bold with muted, combining industrial-style glazing in every room with a subtle colour palette. Patterned rugs command the eye, while Amtico flooring gives a smooth finish. The principal bedroom is bedecked in teal and autumnal green – topped off with a velvet footstool, complementing a strikingly abstract gilded headboard.
