GEAR OF THE YEAR

There’s still time to have your say in Pro Moviemaker’s Gear of the Year Awards. Help us decide which products and services deserve top honours

T ime is running out to vote in the Pro Moviemaker Gear of the Year (GOTY) Awards 2025 – the most trusted awards in pro video. Now in their ninth year, our GOTY Awards celebrate the best hardware, software and services across the filmmaking industry. Unlike other awards, these aren’t decided by laboratory tests or marketing teams. They’re voted for by working filmmakers and content creators who rely on this kit every day. That’s why a GOTY win matters. This year’s shortlist covers the full range of tools shaping modern production, from cinema systems and mirrorless cameras to lenses, audio, gimbals, lights, streaming gear and podcasting tools. With two new categories added for 2025 – one for content creator-

focused cameras and another for video podcast and livestream gear – the awards reflect the industry’s continued evolution. There are also honours for retailers, rental firms and repair services – the unsung heroes keeping production moving. Voting is quick, easy and open to all readers. You don’t need to vote in every category, just those where you’ve got experience, and no registration is needed. Everyone who votes is entered into a prize draw to win a case of wine too. So head to promoviemaker.net , follow the GOTY link and vote before 1 September. While reader vote determines the big winners, we also spotlight a few products that have raised standards through our Editor’s Choice awards, recognising special brilliance and innovation where it’s deserved.

CAMERAS If your camera has made your life easier, your footage better or your clients happier, now is the chance to give it some love. And the Pro Moviemaker Gear of the Year Awards’ camera categories are more stacked than ever. Mirrorless is still the most hotly contested class, with the big names going all in. Canon finally dropped its proper pro flagship, the EOS R1, to take on Sony’s new A1 II and the lightning-fast A9 III – the first mirrorless with a global shutter. For those chasing detail over speed, the R5 II turned heads with high-res punch, while Fujifilm’s GFX100 II

SIMPLY THE BEST Cameras, lenses, mics, recorders and much more besides – it’s all covered. So get voting now
