PUTTING THE FUN INTO FUNDRAISING Do something amazing for your local hospitals with Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust
I ncredible things happen every day thanks to Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust’s (ACT) fantastic community of supporters. As well as giving generously to its campaigns and appeals, many of them show their support by fundraising. From cake sales to skydives and everything in between, the fundraising team at ACT love nothing better than to help bring an amazing idea to life. Fundraisers come from all walks (and runs and swims!) of life, demonstrating our community’s passion for supporting the patients and staff of Addenbrooke’s. Many have been personally treated or experienced special care received by their loved ones from the superb local hospital. One of ACT’s star fundraisers, Jeannie Ambrose, receives treatment for secondary breast cancer at the Addenbrooke’s Oncology Outreach Service in Littleport and has been fundraising for a piece of equipment called a vein finder. Jeannie, along with her brave friends – who have each been through or are still living with cancer – smashed her target and raised a magnificent £5,381! To raise this money, they braved the freezing sea by taking several challenging icy dips! Thanks to their bravery, people with cancer will be more comfortable at their appointments. “This device helps make receiving treatments much more comfortable when patients have damaged or difficult-to-find veins,” says Jeannie. “I would like to give something back to a community that has loved and supported me.” If you’re ready to join the team at Addenbrooke’s, there are a wide range of organised events to choose from. Whether you’re looking to challenge yourself to an ultra trek or skydive – even tackle your first marathon – there’s bound to be something to inspire. What’s more, you will be raising money to save and change lives by helping ACT make Addenbrooke’s and the Rosie hospitals even better.
