Finding your bearings or those of you visiting Saffron Walden for the first time, finding your way around may be top of the list of priorities. It’s always
good to note where the main visitor magnets are, so you can take part in
some local festivities – the town certainly has its fair share of events on offer. The annual Dance in the Square , organised by the Saffron Walden Initiative, is a real highlight, featuring blues, soul and Motown favourites from the Freddie Hall Band in the town’s market square. The 2021 music-fest marks 18 years of the event – catch it on 28 August. Or, if you’re planning a trip in July, why not pay a visit to Saffron Hall ? The 740-seat concert venue, in the grounds of Saffron Walden County High School, is a uniquely sustainable model of arts and local outreach. It boasts a world- class programme of shows, alongside an extensive schools and community initiative. This month’s events include a performance from the Jess Gillam Ensemble on 3 July – led by the star saxophonist – as well as an exciting appearance by the London Philharmonic Orchestra on Saturday 17 July.
