Cambridge, The Young Actors Company has been teaching for over 40 years. Taking on talent

aged 5-21, the company prides itself on providing the highest standard of training in a creative environment, supported by teaching from industry professionals. With the mission of inspiring the next generation, it boasts alumni including Himesh Patel, who starred in the lead role of Yesterday , and also appeared in The Aeronauts and Christopher Nolan’s Tenet . The company offers a hands-on, practical experience with inspiring role models, and fantastic opportunities to create, perform and work professionally in the acting industry. YAC provides a safe space for young people, where they can express themselves, build confidence and – most importantly – have fun! The organisation not only has a serious passion for teaching, training and unlocking acting potential, but also values seeing young people grow as individuals and make friends. No matter the career path they choose in the future, the training they receive helps them in their adult lives. There’s a variety of classes on offer, ranging from TV and film, to theatre, stage combat and even puppetry, along with events throughout the year. YAC has announced its Screen and Stage Summer Schools, in July and August. Young actors can make a film or put on a production in five days, challenging themselves with planning, storyboarding, casting and shooting their own work, complete with a performance at the end of the week! To find out more, email info@ theyoungactorscompany.com. With many productions cancelled as a result of the pandemic, it’s been a difficult year for the arts. To give burgeoning talent something to look forward to, YAC is building an entire theatre outside Netherhall School and hosting an Open Air Theatre event, featuring food trucks, decorations and a fun, festival atmosphere. From 30 July to 1 August, it will showcase a wide range of productions, including Shakespearean classics Twelfth Night and A Midsummer Night’s Dream , family favourite The Gruffalo , and even Lord of the Flies .
