maximum practicality, and suggests a snug with seating and storage can work well for zoning off different areas. ON TREND As always, a new season has yielded a fresh assortment of kitchen trends to tempt, with designers touting pastel colours and sleek minimalism as styles to look out for. Wren’s Darren Watts advocates metallic accents as an easy and effective way of introducing statement elements. “A charming copper finish – from piping, lighting and vintage cookware – works a treat in a traditional space, while silvery touches go a long way towards taking your luxurious modern kitchen up a notch,” he says. “Alternatively, if you’re working around a limited layout, find character through surface-top accessories, subtle light fixtures and cabinet handles, for a sophisticated feel that doesn’t overdo it.” For a ‘trend’ that never goes out of style, Darren highlights kitchen islands, which form an impressive centrepiece and have lots of practical uses. He adds: “The seemingly timeless shallow shaker remains one of the most popular design styles. It’s classic, unfussy and blends well with almost any architecture and aesthetic.” Over at Inspired Kitchens Cambridge in Haslingfield, the team are seeing an increased level of interest in their German true handleless range, an ultra-modern style in a selection of interesting colours and textures. Other popular trends currently are deep blue, two-toned with light grey and contrasted with white quartz work surfaces. Kitchen sales manager,
