The Reuters Institute’s Digital News Report 2020 reviewed social media’s influence in a chaotic news year, particularly at the perception of misinformation displayed on social media outlets. While attitudes varied from region to region, the global survey concluded that, despite being a major source of news, social media was believed to be a conduit for fake news.
