CANON | ADVERTI SEMENT FEATURE

EASY POST “Nowadays, most people who shoot have a deep understanding of post, so it’s just knowing what you need to shoot in what file format. You need big resolution for wides, while slightly lower resolution for close-ups works well and, obviously, you need the full-frame to get that shallow depth-of-field on certain shots. It’s having that choice, which is what the Canon EOS C700 FF gives you and that is so helpful to the process.” Ember was editing the trailer in Adobe Premiere Pro, which enabled them to use the Proxy function when there was trouble playing back the original files. The function allows you to switch the Proxy on and off, so you can look at the Raw instantly if you need to.

The colourist had never worked with the Canon EOS C700 FF before, but could do the grade at the speed and pace of other high-end cameras he was used to. “We also did an HDR grade, showing what great latitude the camera has out of the box; a big deal when you want to do HDR as it’s the steps between white and black. We could push the luminance level of the tubes to a point exceeding what we could grade normally. The C700 FF’s ability to work with HDR is a great benefit as the whole industry is going that way; you will pull down your SDR grade from the HDR master. The camera is geared to this.”
