A NEW HOME Smith intends for an interconnected network of companies that can support productions to take residence at the studios
SECRET FILMING The obvious question on many people’s lips is: what’s being filmed at Shinfield? NDAs prohibit Smith from divulging that information, but some media outlets have reported that The Acolyte , a Star Wars television series from Disney+, is well under way and expected to wrap in the coming months. “A few are in production there at the moment,” Smith confirms. “We’re talking to streaming companies and traditional film companies. We have a streamer in at the moment.” Hindi cinema, better and more affectionately known as Bollywood, has also been linked with Shinfield. The Indian film industry is the biggest in the world in terms of number of films released per year – reportedly 1500 to 2000 movies in 20 languages – so it would no doubt prove big business for Shinfield. However, Smith plays down these rumours. “I never said Bollywood was producing films at Shinfield and I have no idea where it came from – but everybody is welcome.”
