Sundance Film Festival 23 January - 2 February Taking place each year in Salt Lake City, Utah, Sundance is the largest indie film festival in the US. Expect to see 90+ feature films and more than 50 shorts across the programme, plus a host of online screenings if you can’t make it in person. The world-renowned annual tech show for the systems integration and audio-visual industry returns to Fira Barcelona in February. This year’s packed programme includes a lighting and staging zone, AV broadcast summit and multi-technology zone that features makers of displays and projectors including Samsung, LG and Absen. the SPEGC. “This new VP facility adds valuable services for international and national content producers, supporting the development of new projects and solidifying the island’s position as a top- tier production destination.” In collaboration with VCI and ROE Visual, ARRI Solutions led the facility’s technical design, system integration and commissioning, ensuring the studio will provide the highest efficiency in performance and operations. “We’re proud to have been part of this landmark project,” said Kevin Schwutke, senior vice president at ARRI Solutions. “Gran Canaria Studios is a game changer, offering next- generation tech in a flexible environment.” VCI’s CEO, Fernando Baselga, echoed this enthusiasm, highlighting the role of the studio in expanding the audio- visual infrastructure of Gran Canaria. “This project represents a new era for VP in Spain and Europe, and we’re excited to have been a part of it,” he added. “Collaborating with ARRI and ROE Visual has been instrumental in bringing this state-of-the-art facility to life, providing the tools to deliver world-class content.”

The new facility, located at the Gran Canaria Platós studio lot, is a significant development for the island’s audio-visual sector. It offers cutting-edge tech and an innovative design to accommodate a wide range of production needs. Designed and delivered through a collaboration between ARRI Solutions, Video Cine Import (VCI) and ROE Visual, the facility spans 1200 sq m and features a flexible VP environment. The centrepiece is a 40m-wide, horseshoe-shaped LED wall that’s accompanied by adjustable ceilings and two mobile LED side walls. This configuration ensures maximum stage flexibility, allowing for a broad range of production scenarios from feature films to TV series and commercials. ROE Visual’s Black Pearl BP2V2 LED panels, known for their high resolution and exceptional contrast, are installed throughout the studio, so filmmakers can create immersive, high-quality visuals that blend physical and virtual elements. The commissioning of this flagship project by the Economic Promotion Agency of Gran Canaria (SPEGC) reflects the island’s commitment to supporting the growth of the audio-visual industry. “Gran Canaria is making great strides towards becoming a global hub for TV and film production,” stated Cosme García Falcón, managing director of
