Fun in the sun There’s so much to enjoy at the National Trust’s Wimpole Estate this summer, from family entertainment to live music and performance… Experience the magic of an open-air performance with the setting sun as its backdrop, as Wimpole Estate’s Sunset Series makes its anticipated return. this programme of captivating twilight shows will feature timeless theatre classics and exciting new plays, including family- friendly adventures such as Robin Hood and The Wind in the Willows , as well as Shakespearean favourites like Macbeth and The Merry Wives of Windsor – all amid the picturesque surroundings of the parkland. The Sunset Series has something Sunset Series From 18 July Beginning with The Tempest on 18 July, for everyone this season, so dig out that picnic blanket and get ready for incredible evenings of entertainment in the warm glow of sunset. In the run-up to the Sunset Series, don’t miss Wimpole’s Summer Folk events, where the setting sun will add to the lovely atmosphere of two evening celebrations of folk music. First up, on 11 July, Tin Giants take to the stage – a six-piece progressive folk-rock band with roots established in the Anglo- European and Celtic traditions – followed in a special double bill by indie-folk trio Wickenwood, whose sound is built on their passion for history and folklore, with harmony-driven vocals and contemporary influences. Then, on 12 July, Bof will play Breton folk dance music with joyful artistry, and there’ll be singalongs galore courtesy of singer-songwriter Jeremy Harmer. Summer Folk 11 and 12 July

Cloud spotting, den building, a magical story tent, classic outdoor games and disco dancing are also on the agenda – along with much more. From 24 July to 3 September, get ready for a festival of fun, imagination, curiosity and adventure for the whole family! At Wimpole Estate’s Summer of Play, there’ll be hands-on activities to suit all ages, from little explorers to big dreamers. Toddlers can dive into sensory fun with colourful toys and playful environments, while older kids can get creative by building marble runs, stacking giant balancing blocks, drawing on chalkboards
