GODOX KNOWLED P600R HARD P4 £2878/$2299 godox.com

Godox’s high-output LED panel lights include the £2878/$2299 Knowled P600R Hard P4 and, for more oomph, the £4790/$3890 P1200R Hard P8. Delivering 600 and 1200W of power respectively, the fixtures are designed to mix intense output with advanced colour control and fast, flexible light shaping. Both offer up to 161,000 lux at 1m with 5600K and a 55° beam angle – enough punch for large stages,

studios and outdoor shoots. A built- in adjustable diffusion system allows a quick switch between hard, directional output and a softer look without modifiers, but is not for sale in the US. Multi-zone pixel control is a key feature, with four zones on the P600R and eight zones on the P1200R. This enables detailed pixel mapping, dynamic effects and animated patterns directly from the panel. Also a priority is colour performance with CRI R9 ≥92 and TM-30 RF ≥95 for accurate skin tones and consistent results in post. Both are IP65-rated and support CRMX, DMX, Ethernet, on-board and app-based control, suitable for fixed installations and mobile production.

ATOMOS SUN DRAGON £580/$699 atomos.com The Sun Dragon LED is the world’s first waterproof, HDR, full-colour rope light. It’s ultra-bright and full of RGBAW LEDs - red, green, blue, amber and white - with seamless dimming. At 3cm wide and 5m long, it offers smooth lighting from end to end, even around tricky surfaces or in tight spaces. Available in diffused (2000 lumens) and also non-diffused (3000 lumens) versions, it weighs under 1kg for fast, easy rigging and is powered via mains or a V-Lock battery. It is IP68-rated, dustproof and waterproof to 30cm deep. Thanks to a 30cm bend tolerance and flexible design, it works in places often off-limits for hard fixtures, like curves on architectural sets. The Sun Dragon boasts a CRI rating of >97, TLCI of >96, colour temperature range from 2000 to 20,000K and smooth dimming in 0.1% increments with no colour shift. For wireless control, the iOS mobile app lets you alter colour modes (RGBAW, HSI, XY), intensity and gel emulation. The app lets you switch between presets and effects like flicker, lightning and fireworks. You can match sources using built-in daylight and tungsten modes or apply common gel filters digitally.

CREAMSOURCE VORTEX24 SOFT £TBC/$16,999 creamsource.com

At 1950W, the Vortex24 Soft is the largest soft source in Creamsource’s ecosystem. Made for scale, efficiency and seamless integration, the all-black fixture gives smooth, even light with over 190,000 lumens output. Unlike the hard panel, which needs domes or bounces to soften output, this is a purpose wide-beam light. It spreads twice the usable light of the hard model

across a 110° angle giving brighter off- axis coverage. With pixel-level control across 24 zones, full app integration and an RRGBBW LED mix, it operates in CIE xy colour space via Creamsource’s CCMS for consistent calibration across the range, even at low dimming levels.

Pros: High end and powerful Cons: Oh, that price!
