SPACEX | USER REVI EW

“AT 1200W, SPACEX IS AN ABSOLUTE BEAST WITH A SIX EMITTER CLUSTER”

The power of the light is also something Jani loves: “It’s a 1200- watt light, which is great, and you only need one electrician to handle the light – that’s a really good bonus. You also get everything in the fixture, you don’t need to rig with a normal ballast as it’s hidden in the design. With commercials it’s very rare that I take any tungsten lights now. I did a commercial up north last year and it was around -20°C. I used the Sky lights – in fact the whole job was just LEDs, especially now with the remote control that we have, everything’s already so much faster.” SUPPORT Jani is complimentary about the support he gets from Creamsource and he knows that they’re working on the 30° option, which he hopes to see soon. “I know they speak to many gaffers on the ground, which is important. I also love the design of the SpaceX – it really looks cool! Weight-wise it isn’t a problem, and is a one-electrician light, as I mentioned. Of course, more than anything, the quality of the light is very good and we haven’t had any problems. It’s very important that the CRI and TLCI are high.”

IMAGES Coverage of the SpaceX without the lenses is around 115°

LIGHT PACKAGES Jani rents out his SpaceX lights with the lenses included, and with the promise of the 30° light to come, but at the moment a lens offering that narrow spread would be around double the physical length of the 60°. So, Creamsource have some work to do, to combat that optic challenge.

space light skirts. The spread without the lenses is around 115°, which is good to fill a surface pretty closely. The SpaceX is basically the same fixture as their Sky light, but with new engineering to embed the power supply within the design. The light hasn’t got the high IP rating but it’s really good indoors.”
