The new version is designed to make immersive spaces quicker to deploy, easier to manage and more powerful to operate. SHURE PARTNERS WITH EDGE Shure is now a minority investor in EDGE Sound Research, a start-up company that is developing new experiential audio technologies which redefine how audiences are able to consume sound. The company was co-founded in 2019 by two University of California, Riverside students, Ethan Castro and Valtteri Salomaki. KEY NEW LAUNCH FROM CLEAR-COM Clear-Com has announced FreeSpeak Cell, a cellular-based wireless intercom system that uses LTE and 5G infrastructure to support large-scale production communications. The system made its debut at day one of NAB 2026. FreeSpeak Cell is designed to operate over public and private LTE and 5G networks, enabling full-duplex wireless intercom across wide geographic areas without relying on traditional radio frequency coordination. FreeSpeak Cell directly addresses increasing congestion in UHF, DECT and Wi-Fi bands, particularly in large venues and high-density live event environments.

COACHELLA’S DO LAB GOES DEEPER At Coachella 2026, the Do LaB

Ian Ingram, who has engineered Do LaB’s sound since 2008, says Meyer Sound’s MAPP 3D system design and prediction tool is central to the team’s deployment confidence. “You know what the coverage is going to be,” he said. “You don’t want to get the system up and realise it’s not working the way you thought.” “The structure has a lot of hanging fabric,” says Ingram. “That fabric tends to eat up some of the high frequencies. We use the ULTRA-X80 loudspeakers to cover the acoustic shadows.” Flemming is unambiguous about the role Meyer Sound plays at Do LaB. “Having premium sound, people notice the difference,” he says. “It makes the music and the whole experience better. The Meyer Sound system is so crisp and clean and beautiful.”

MACROdose electronic music stage, a vast open-air tent structure draped in waves of vibrant sculptural fabric, returned for its third year, powered by Meyer Sound. This year, the experience expanded beyond the tent’s perimeter, bringing even more of the festival grounds into the fold. The stage showcased a diverse line-up, including artists such as Tinashe, Seth Troxler, Sbtrkt and After Midnight, and attracted some of the largest crowds in its history. “Our crowd last year got so big – upward of 30,000 people – that it spilled way outside our area,” said Do LaB co- founder Jesse Flemming on the eve of the event. “So we’re adding more sound on the perimeter to push it a little further and draw people in.”
