THE SOUND BEHIND

O n the Everybody Scream tour, Florence + The Machine’s world reaches into something theatrical and mythic – part arena concert, part haunted folklore. The album of the same name marked Florence Welch’s fifth UK number one and also topped Billboard’s Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart in the US. Taking place across Europe and North America, the tour commenced on 6 February 2026 in Belfast, Northern Ireland and will conclude on 30 August 2026 in Reading, England. The show features songs from the latest and older albums, and explores themes of grief, hope and folklore. It also includes deeply personal messages of maternal mortality and survival, written not long after Welch’s ectopic pregnancy and life- saving surgery.

working with Florence in 2017. “She’s a phenomenal singer, really talented and such a genuinely pleasant person to work with,” he says. “The sound hasn’t changed drastically over the years, but the mood has. It’s become darker, more introspective, a little more ominous and we have started incorporating some unconventional elements and unusual instruments to add atmosphere and texture.” The show features, for example, a glass harmonica and a waterphone, which Madix describes as ‘an eerie, metallic instrument you hear in a lot of sci-fi and horror soundtracks to create shifting, haunting tones’. “The band is fantastic,” Madix continues. “Our musical director Pauli Lovejoy is incredible, and Florence has always been incredibly good at singing while being very physical on stage, so I

Critics have praised it for its cathartic, visceral energy, dubbing it a ‘ritual’ of resilience. “I am so proud to work with some iconic female artists, and Florence is certainly that,” begins Holt. “Her voice and stage presence are mesmerising.
