Interfit S1

Interfit’s S1 is a versatile, powerful, battery- powered flash that can also be run off the mains, so it’s all you need to shoot, inside or out. With a maximum 500Ws output adjustable through nine stops in 1/10th stop increments, it’s got bags of power, and its high-capacity Li-ion battery will provide up to 350 full-power flashes at full power, rising to over 4000 in the High Speed Sync mode. The latter can be used up to 1/8000sec, and combined with the S1’s TTL Remote, which is compatible with Nikon, Canon and Sony DSLRs and mirrorless cameras, you can also shoot in manual, HSS or TTL mode for automatic metering and flash power control up to a range of 100m. The S1 is rugged and high-tech, with a tough aluminium body, a frosted dome to protect the flash tube and a durable, easy-to-use Bowens S-type mount, which accepts a wide range of modifiers.

Continuous lights come in all shapes and sizes, and one of the most interesting is Nanlite’s Pavotube. The 15C version is a versatile creative tool that can be used for regular lighting as well as for light painting. The 2ft long tube’s thin shape is great for low-key lighting, but wave it over the subject during a long exposure and you’ll get broad and even illumation. The 15C has power settings between 0 and 100%, with the maximum output coming in at 1400 lm. The colour temperature of the tube can be set between 2700K and 6500K or set to full spectrum RGB, for a range of colourful effects. And if you’re using it for filmmaking, there are also six pre-programmed special effects. It can be run off an internal battery, but also comes with an AC adapter, a padded carry case and mounting clips to attach it to a light stand. Nanlite Pavotube 15C
