SVOD VS AVOD Across Latin America, SVOD – including streaming services like Netflix and Disney+ – rose 40% between 2019 and 2021, largely due to the great streaming boom of 2020. Netflix dominated the 2021 SVOD market
with a 58% share, but Disney+ has a higher annual growth rate. While Latin Americans prefer SVOD, AVOD doesn’t fall far behind. Consumers value free streaming services rather
than subscription-based ones, even if that means absorbing ads in exchange. Yet many films and TV episodes aren’t available unless paid for, so it looks like SVOD is here to stay – for now.
