X100VI The X100VI was a hotly anticipated camera; its predecessor – the X100V – captivated with its fixed-lens simplicity for an extremely natural imaging experience wrapped in an alluringly aesthetic package. Users heralded a back-to-basics sense of nostalgia when using the camera, as it combined instant point-and- shoot functionality with Fujifilm’s excellent Film Simulation modes, resulting in vibrant, expressive images straight out of the camera. 2024 HAS BEEN a busy year for Fujifilm, with a slew of new cameras and lenses released in its X Series. Two bodies from this year’s batch have won out in a vote by the PN readership, with the fixed-lens FUJIFILM X100VI receiving the title for best bridge/compact camera, and the FUJIFILM X-T50 garnering best enthusiast APS-C camera. The common theme with these two models was bringing a winning formula up to date with the very cutting edge of Fujifilm’s imaging technology. To be fair, the phrase ‘winning formula’ perhaps doesn’t do enough justice to the runaway success that was the 2020-released
successor has found favour with the photographing public shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. What might have registered as unexpected is the excellent X-T50. Building on the brilliance of the FUJIFILM X-T30 II, this camera targets the enthusiast- level photographer, delivering strong imaging performance in a lightweight and easy-to-use body. Suffice it to say, the new model fits the bill perfectly, packed with so many pro-level features and specifications that it’s no wonder it picked up this prestigious prize in the PN 2024 Awards.
