SONY BURANO O ne of the hottest launches at IBC, Sony’s BURANO is the latest addition to its CineAlta family of digital cinema cameras. Offering great portability and top-quality cinematic images, it features a sensor that matches the highly regarded colour science of the VENICE 2. Designed for single shooters and small crews, it’s the world’s first digital cinema camera with a PL mount to feature in-body image stabilisation, plus the compact housing includes a thinner-than-before electronically variable ND filter structure alongside the optical image stabilisation mechanism: a technological feat not seen before. The BURANO boasts a powerful 8.6K full-frame sensor with 16 stops of latitude and dual base ISO of 800 and 3200, to produce stunning images even in challenging lighting conditions. It offers exceptional image quality with the option to shoot at full-frame or Super 35 – and supports anamorphic lenses. The lightweight body – approximately 32mm shorter and 1.4kg lighter than the VENICE
2 – means it’s super mobile, but also robust thanks to its rugged magnesium chassis. BURANO incorporates ergonomic design improvements informed by feedback from the filmmaking community, and it’s been created with environmental consciousness in mind, utilising plant-based cellulose and moulded pulp cushioning. The BURANO is set to support versatile recording formats.
M otion Impossible has announced its AGITO GEN 2 hardware, an update on existing GEN 1 systems. GEN 2 includes GEN 1’s current functionality and adds silent steering, new IO and LCD panels, enhanced chassis and advanced controls, like direct Ethernet connection. AGITO GEN 2 includes a Core and Master Controller, both of which encourage enhanced workflows thanks to their increased payload support and active breaking. The next-generation controllers offer redesigned electronics and new ergonomics in the Core and Master, respectively. Customers can either update their existing GEN 1 systems or swap them for a brand-new GEN 2. The GEN 2 system supports AGITO Sports and Trax drive-ends as well as the MagTrax add-on. S amsung has launched PRO Ultimate memory cards for pro content creators, available in microSD and full-size SD.
