With the big switch-on due to take place on 16 November at 3pm, this free event marks the start of the festive season in Bury St Edmunds. Aside from the light display, there will also be a variety of stalls and Christmas-themed entertainment for punters to enjoy. Bury St Edmunds Christmas Lights

ENCHANTED THURSFORD

When twilight falls, the magic begins at Thursford. With new displays and lanterns for 2023, this is set to be its biggest yet. Embark on a journey of wonder that will first lead you through Fantasyland and beyond to the Lantern Light Extravaganza, passing magical characters along the way, from penguins to giant teddy bears and the mischievous snowman family. An outdoor display provides a kaleidoscopic array of illuminated sculptures, from fantasy underwater worlds to the wild North Pole. Tickets are £22 for adults and children, ages two and under go free.

This winter, the Cambridge University Botanic Garden will host its first ever winter lights trail. A stunning visual display, see the garden brought to life after dark with installations designed to highlight its most beloved features, including the fountain, lake and glasshouse range. Open for 13 nights in December, visitors can pause for hot drinks and snacks halfway round the trail at the Garden Cafe. For a dazzling evening of magic and enchantment, look no further.
