Autumn delights The Pheasant, a charming village pub in Great Chishill, is an autumnal wonder. As the temperature drops and winter woollies come out, The Pheasant embraces this with home comforts and warming favourites. Its autumn menu is a celebration of harvest, featuring hearty dishes like pan-seared pigeon breast with sweet pickled shallots, and calf’s liver with bacon and champ mash, while locally sourced venison with hasselback potatoes provide a taste of tradition. Pair these with a full- bodied red wine or crisp cider for the perfect accompaniment to the changing seasons. Christmas bookings are now open.
ATYPICAL AFTERNOON Looking for an afternoon tea that’s a little less conventional? Kibou’s got you covered with sushi, sashimi and mochi on the menu. The new Jesus Lane Japanese restaurant excels in both savoury and sweet, with a selection of small bites offered on a three-tiered wooden stand. Kibou’s afternoon tea comes with a range of classic flavours, plus the option to swap in a matcha tea-making ‘ceremony’ where it’s hand-whisked at the table. Customers can also opt for sake, champagne or a signature cocktail instead. Afternoon tea runs daily – apart from Saturdays – from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.
