Photography News 81 WEB

Welcome to the October edition of Photography News Let’s face facts: new full-frame digital cameras will never be cheap, although they are getting more affordable as demonstrated by the launch of the Panasonic Lumix S5 and the subject of our big test featuring the Nikon Z 5, both bodies selling for under £2k. That, of course, is still a great deal of money and that’s before adding a lens or two. Speaking of lenses, we have reviews of two exciting ones: the Tamron 28-200mm f/2.8-5.6 Di III RXD and Olympus’s latest telezoom, a 100-400mm f/5-6.3. The former is the first superzoom to sport an f/2.8 aperture, while the latter gives the equivalent of 200-800mm in full-frame, so ideally suited to nature and sport photography.  If outputting your photographs at home appeals, then the Epson SureColor SC-P700 could be for you. It can produce superb quality A3+ size prints – that’s 19x13in – in a great-looking unit that has a remarkably small footprint. Check out the first test in this issue for a full rundown of its features and stunning performance.
