World Rugby – the governing body behind the 2023 Rugby World Cup – partnered with HBS – a long-standing Lawo customer – to deliver the two-month tournament to a global audience. This year’s goals, shared by World Rugby and HBS, were to capture the unforgettable event using cutting-edge technology while reducing their carbon footprint. With Lawo’s help, HBS deployed a fibre-optic SMPTE ST 2110 network architecture, connecting venues across France, the tournament hosts. OB trucks at each arena used Lawo’s .edge hyper- density gateways to direct stream traffic over IP. HBS also tested Lawo’s recently released Home apps, such as Home Multiviewer and Home UDX Converter, to monitor its inputs and outputs and complete ratio conversions. “The Home apps are incredibly powerful and also integrate seamlessly with our existing IP set-up,” explained HBS director of engineering Bart Lucassen. South Korean sports channel SBS Golf has selected LiveU to produce its professional golf tournaments, including over 50 Korea Professional Golf Association (KPGA) and Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) events. The decision came after a successful deployment of the LiveU eco-system, including its Reliable Transport protocol. LiveU field units are installed on each golf course, connected to the receiver in either an OB van or other remote facility. The camera crew need only turn up to each tournament with LiveU backpacks, increasing overall efficiency. Transmitted through SBS Golf, this coverage is available to local sports fans via linear pay-TV channels, digital channels and YouTube Live. GET INTO GOLF
