What do you think has been one of the most exciting tech trends to emerge from 2023? One of the most sought-after trends in 2023 has been virtual production. Of course, this is not a new technology, but the pandemic definitely helped to change the industry’s mind and accelerated the adoption rate of this technology, which is now the talk of the town, with lots of companies getting into it. But I am also curious to see how AI gets involved in broadcast creation and management. Favourite product launch? Some of the products I find more interesting are new, simpler and more cost- effective camera tracking systems that are closing the gap between the complex and expensive professional tracking systems. I am excited to see how this trend evolves, and how new and existing manufacturers bring in new ideas. What’s one key lesson from 2023 you will be taking into 2024? Virtual technology is here to stay. Not necessarily to replace the ‘standard’ way of shooting or creating content, but to complement

What do you think has been one of the most exciting tech trends to emerge from 2023? The creative ways that remote productions are being done in the cloud is incredibly impressive. We have seen some great strides in this regard, and this past year we were able to witness how our products work to suit various different production needs, with truly increased efficiency. Recently, Vizrt worked with Novel Media and AWS to deliver full end- to-end cloud production for the latest season of the European League of Football (ELF) games. They were able to successfully transition into a remote workflow, producing up to four games in parallel. The benefits of taking that leap included lowering cost for travel, which is needed for traditional broadcast productions, and by consequence, reducing the production’s carbon footprint. But also, an efficient remote production model lets the best people for the job be selected for it – regardless of where they are in the world. What’s one key lesson from 2023 you will be taking into 2024? In this industry, knowing how great the products and solutions available are is just one part of what makes it special. Another crucial element to it are the people, and it’s only with people’s knowledge, passion and creativity that incredible visual storytelling can be done. Going into 2024, it’s important to reach out to those who might have no

it and therefore provide more options to content creators of any kind. Now that photorealism is given for granted (although is not that easy at all), more and more people are looking to become ‘virtual.’ Are there ethical aspects of the industry that you feel have improved in 2023? Sustainability is an increasingly popular word in the industry. Most of us are concerned about the environment and sustainable practices, carbon footprint and so on. Some of the industry trends we’ve talked about certainly help to improve the sustainability of the industry, such as virtual production. On the other hand, diversity and inclusion are improving over the years – but there is still work to do. What are you most excited for in the next year? The great thing about this industry is that it never stops raising new concepts and fascinating us with new trends and products we’ve never thought about. I would say that I am always excited to see what comes out of the amazingly creative minds of the people in the broadcast tech industry.

idea about the opportunities that our industry offers, especially to the next generation of talent. Are there ethical aspects of the industry that you feel have improved in 2023? broadcast, media and tech is gaining traction like never before. While we can’t yet say the industries are truly diverse, participating in efforts to encourage people from different backgrounds to grow is a step in the right direction. Supporting groups like Rise, which champions gender diversity in the media tech sector, is something Vizrt has continued to do this year, by sponsoring a category in the Rise Awards and participating in Rise’s mentorship schemes. Taking The discussion around inclusion for women in action now to encourage diversity and inclusion is a real investment in our industry’s future. What are you most excited for in 2024? Engaging with customers frequently means I get to hear first-hand what their priorities and needs are. Every customer is different, and helping them drive operational efficiencies in their workflows to create stunning stories is exciting. I’m looking forward to seeing traditional, digital and remote productions merge into a single workflow. I expect to see additional growth for NDI in 2024 – with users ranging from broadcast studios to consumer-grade video set-ups, it offers great tools for video connectivity.
