t may not be the first thing to cross your mind when renovating, but floors can be the key to elevating your home’s interior decor to new heights. It could seem like an intimidating job, but luckily for us, there are some local lifesavers on hand to help. Started by business – and real-life – partners Pierre and Laurence de Wet, Art of Flooring came about as

a natural progression from the couple’s specialist floor cleaning and restoration company, Art of Clean. Occasionally, floors they worked on needed to be replaced rather than restored, and after a flurry of enquiries, the pair decided to set up their own flooring company. They hired flooring expert Sam Wilson to help shape the business, set up a supply chain, find fitters and get started on the refurbishment of the showroom, which opened on Milton Road back in late 2017. Setting Art of Flooring apart from other flooring specialists in Cambridge is their ability to adapt to whatever your flooring needs may be. “We offer a bespoke product that can be tailored to meet our clients’ requirements,” says Sam. The team’s background in floor care allows them to provide invaluable floor maintenance know-how, as well as useful tips on how the products will work within your home. “We can also offer the service to care for your chosen floor over its lifetime,” adds Sam, referring to Art of Flooring’s handy protection, care and maintenance service, which ensures that you’ll get the most out of your new floor once it’s been installed. “Classic oak plank floors are always a popular choice and will look good alongside

most interior designs,” says Sam. “The advantage wood has over luxury vinyl tiles is that it can be refinished in the future, meaning your floor lasts longer.” Luxury vinyl tiles are better suited when it comes to areas of the home where water resistance is key, such as the kitchen or bathroom.
