CT SCANNER GETS A NEW LOOK The Addenbrooke’s CT department has seen its first scanner wrapped in nature-themed vinyls, funded by supporters of Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT) to improve patient experience. Featuring green leaves and a bright blue sky – along with a beautiful bluebell wood on the wall – Jodi Gooding, a senior radiographer at Addenbrooke’s, said the lively new livery has made a huge difference. “We don’t have any windows so there is no natural light in here, but people now say it feels like there is. It makes the room much lighter and less clinical and scary.” Since April, when the scanner was wrapped, it has performed around 4,900 scans.

Kimbolton Castle, which is situated in the grounds of Kimbolton School in Cambridgeshire, was lit purple on 20 November to mark World Pancreatic Cancer Day. The illumination formed part of a nationwide Purple Lights for pancreatic cancer campaign that saw landmarks and homes glow purple across Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. The initiative at Kimbolton Castle was championed by former Kimbolton School pupil Oli Burbage-Hall, who arranged for the castle to light up in support of a colleague currently undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer, and also in memory of another colleague who recently died from the disease. “There is a real sense of helplessness when a dreadful disease like this takes hold of someone you care about. Getting involved in the Purple Lights campaign has allowed me to do something meaningful to put a spotlight on a disease that many people still know so very little about,” said Oli. Purple Lights for pancreatic cancer is supported by the UK-based charities Pancreatic Cancer UK, Pancreatic Cancer Action and Planets. Kimbolton Castle glows purple for pancreatic cancer awareness
