PERFORMANCE: USABILITY
The fact that the Canon EOS R100 is the size and weight of a toy camera creates a new way of approaching your photography. Its target market remains newcomers to image making, and this mirrorless has a lot to offer in that respect, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing an old hand can gain from a lightweight and simplified system such as this.
Verdict As I alluded to at the start, using the R100 was a transformative experience, which surprised me. While it may not be bristling with the latest tech Canon has to offer, it features all you could need not only to get started, but also to grow. Its size may be a barrier to those with chunkier digits, but if you’re attracted by its diminutive dimensions, the resulting performance won’t disappoint. While it serves its target markets admirably, I can also see appeal for those with more experience who simply want a small, light camera that can be carried wherever you go.
