The V-Raptor’s 35.4-megapixel CMOS sensor can shoot 8K large format or 6K Super 35. Most interesting is the price, which undercuts not only similar high-end cameras from rivals, but also Red’s DSMC2 series. Priced at £25,320/$24,500, it’s around half of Red’s 8K Ranger Monstro. That’s not what many would count as modest, but is significantly less than other flagship Reds, and offers a glimpse into the future of the iconic Californian brand.

COMPUTING SOLUTIONS A whole new path to faster, easier editing is now here – and attainable. This leap forward convinced Pro Moviemaker that Scan’s 3XS vGPU and Cloud Computing Solutions deserved the editor’s choice special award. These bring server-quality drives and GPUs to filmmaking teams, thanks to virtual technology pioneered by Disney animators and fine-tuned by Nvidia. 3XS vGPU and Cloud Computing Solutions mean you use your own computer via the internet to access a virtual PC workstation desktop run by Scan. You are admitted to a seat at one of Scan’s computers, which is faster and more capable than anything an independent production company could usually afford. Rent the seat monthly, from a quick-fix or last-minute task to longer-term projects, and only pay for what you need. Scan can monitor your current workflow and computing needs, then offer a solution to match. Scan’s systems are so quick that what can take five minutes on a fast computer is handled in seconds, thanks to safe, enterprise-class servers. Edit films on superfast virtual workstations using Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, for example. It’s a modern way to access the best computers, without huge upfront cost.
