Aputure powers up the Storm

Fast-expanding lighting brand Aputure has extended its professional ecosystem with the Motorised CF16 Fresnel, a 16in lens designed specifically for the high- output Storm XT52. It can intensify the native output of the XT52 by up to seven times, while still delivering a smooth fall- off from centre to edge. The lens features a motorised internal focusing system with an 18-50° spot-flood range. The beam can be adjusted directly from the lamp head, remotely through the Sidus Link app or a lighting control console over DMX.

Every $2690 CF16 includes eight-leaf barn doors which can also accommodate scrims. Kits are available with either a rolling soft case or a flight case. Aputure has also introduced the CF16 Manual Focus Cover, which disengages the motor for manual operation, while maintaining the IP65 weather rating and ensuring fan cooling remains active. The CF16 Barn Doors Adapter also allows the barn doors to be mounted directly to the Storm XT52. No UK prices have been announced yet. aputure.com

Samyang has announced the launch of its AF 24-60mm f/2.8 FE, its second zoom lens co-developed with renowned German optical specialist Schneider-Kreuznach. This new lens follows the 14-24mm f/2.8 version introduced earlier this year, the world’s first front filter- compatible super-wide zoom for Sony E-mount. The 24-60mm is designed for both stills and video, with a compact, lightweight construction and an optical build of 14 elements in 11 groups. The £636 lens takes 72mm filters and has nine aperture blades. No US price has been revealed yet. samyang.com SAMYANG & SCHNEIDER COLLAB CONTINUES

TAKE TWO ON PRO STANDARD ZOOM

Nikon has recently unveiled its second- generation Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II, a major update to one of its most important professional zooms. The lens, designed for full-frame Nikon Z or Red cameras, is the first pro-spec 24-70mm f/2.8 to feature an internal zoom mechanism, so the barrel doesn’t extend or retract as you zoom. At just 675g/1.5lb, it’s also the lightest lens in its class, but the price you pay has been upped to £2599/$2797. For that, you get a reworked optical design with fewer, but more advanced elements, promising

sharper results, smoother bokeh and improved close-up performance. The AF is said to take a leap forward with Nikon’s Silky Swift Voice Coil Motor, delivering AF speeds up to five times faster and 50% quieter than before, with more accurate subject tracking when zooming. Other refinements are a rounded 11-blade aperture, advanced coatings and improved weather sealing. Minimum focus distances have been shortened to 0.24m/9.4in at 24mm and 0.33m/13in at 70mm. nikon.co.uk
