Drop-in magnetic filters inside an adapter to allow use of PL lenses on Sony E-mount cameras are the brainchild of Irix, which claims the filters can be changed in just one second. Irix says the process is silent and secure, removing the need for levers or moving parts that can slow production. It supports an ecosystem of professional filters that includes VND and circular polarisers, plus creative mist and streak options. The two tray types are Cine Gear for rotating filters and Fixed for standard. No prices have been announced yet. irixlens.com INSTANT ATTRACTION FOR IRIX ADAPTER Boutique cinema glass brand Elysas has finally put its Muse Prime lenses into production, with custom options for flare, bokeh, resolution, body colour and lens coatings. Covering full large format sensors – and even the 16:9 frame on Fujifilm GFX bodies – the seven-lens set spans 25 to 135mm. Each one delivers the brand’s signature ‘Melted Bokeh’, balancing vintage softness with modern sharpness for images with depth, swirl and subject separation. Despite their large format coverage and fast T1.8 apertures – T2.8 on the 135mm macro – each lens is under 900g, with a 95mm front diameter, among the lightest in their class. The special launch price is $1999 per lens, which saves $400; customisation costs extra. No UK price has been set yet. elysas.com FLARE PLAY FOR PERSONALISED PRIMES
No zoom and gloom as Laowa brings the Sunlight
Laowa’s Sunlight 2x FF lenses are the first full-frame front anamorphic zooms with a constant 2x squeeze. Following the success of Laowa’s Proteus primes, these Sunlight zooms are designed to bring the classic anamorphic look in a portable package. The series launches with a 40-80mm T4.5 and 70-135mm T4.5, weighing a decent 2.6kg and 2.8kg respectively. Each of the zooms have a parfocal design to maintain focus while zooming, boast minimal breathing and feature a constant T4.5 aperture. Distinctive anamorphic traits include organic focus roll-off, oval bokeh and selectable flare options in blue, amber, silver or clear. There are also close minimum focus distances of 0.61m on the 40-80mm and 0.78m on the 70-135mm. The Sunlight lenses have 0.8M gears, dual-scale markings, a 77mm filter thread and 105mm fronts for matte box compatibility. Back focus
adjustment and optional Sony E, Canon RF, Nikon Z and Leica L mounts are all available. The Sunlight zooms are $5999 each or $10,999 for a two-lens set. No UK price has been set. Laowa has also announced that its distinctive 8-15mm f/2.8 zoom fisheye is now available to fit medium format Fujifilm GFX. It’s the widest-ever lens to fit the series from any manufacturer, and costs just £520/$699. While the lens doesn’t fully cover the large sensor, it produces striking circular fisheye images at the wide end and diagonal fisheye perspectives at longer focal lengths. A minimum focusing distance of just 16cm allows for dramatic close-ups, while a compact build of around 650g makes it practical for travel. The lens is also available to fit Sony E, Nikon Z and Canon EF mounts. venuslens.net
