SUPPLYING TOKYO 2021
Before the long-awaited Tokyo Olympics began, TVU Networks announced its support of new and existing customers on site. From mobile transmitters, to live pool feeds, to free use of its TVU Anywhere applications for athlete interviews – TVU had it covered. Tokyo 2020 brought with it a plethora of challenges. No fans in attendance, athletes testing positive for Covid-19 and travel restrictions. The event was not without its chaos, so getting the live coverage right was of utmost importance. “We’ve been extremely busy in the run-up to the Games, supplying our cloud- and IP-based live video solutions to broadcasters from around the globe, as well as a host of support services,” comments Kap Shin, global services, TVU Networks. TVU offered a 24/7 on-site technical support team to assist all new customers. Broadcasters were provided with access to the TVU Anywhere app, which allowed for HD live transmission of video from iOS or Android smartphones for mobile
journalism; including interviews and special interest stories. The network also offered access to live external video feeds of Tokyo locations, bringing the host city closer to viewers. The feeds were ideal for bumper shots and lead intros, providing a bit more of an atmosphere from the sealed-off host city.
IN TABLE TENNIS WE TRUST
The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has announced an extension of its integrity partnership with Sportradar. Sportradar Integrity Services is a global supplier of sports integrity solutions – and has agreed to extend its partnership with ITTF up until the end of 2023. The multi-year renewal agreement emphasises the strong collaboration between the two organisations, which first began in 2017. Within the agreement, events organised by ITTF will be monitored by Sportradar ’s Fraud Detection System, an advanced bet-monitoring
product that has been assessed by sports betting experts. A global team of qualified integrity experts analyse irregular betting patterns, with questionable matches reported to partners, providing essential
visibility into worldwide match- fixing. Last year, Sportradar detected over 500 suspect matches across global sport, and has reported over 5500 suspicious matches in the past 15 years.
