STARTED: 2013 VOD FACTORY

CEO: JULIEN VIN-RAMARONY COUNTRY: FRANCE

What is the company’s origin story? My name is Jessica Benchetrit and I am the head of business development at VOD Factory. We were founded in 2013 by Julien Vin-Ramarony and Aurélien Clerc. During its first years, the company created and managed VOD services for major media companies in France: SFR, Fnac, Cdiscount, etc. As we developed industry expertise, our conviction grew that there was a place in the market for niche SVOD services – for communities that weren’t fully targeted through existing international streaming services. We decided to do everything in our power to facilitate the creation of such offers. First, we built Otto, a white-label solution with wide personalisation options, allowing any content owner to launch their own OTT streaming service without any technical skills. We connected Otto to multiple environments, accelerating the growth and distribution of our clients. From one single back office, they can now operate a website, mobile apps, connected TV apps and an app in Orange TV – France’s leading telco operator. We then identified topics with high potential, on which we launched our own services, partnering with the best experts in those fields: we created Shadowz in 2020,

and we also operate Queerscreen and Spicee. We are working on two more offers launching by the end of the year. Being both a technical provider and an editor, we deliver a full range of services to clients: content acquisition, content provisioning, digital

marketing, etc. We put all the VOD expertise we’ve acquired over the years at their disposal to make the streaming project a success. What are you working on right now? Looking to improve Otto and developing new features, paying close attention to the market evolution and trying to offer the most relevant options. We are currently developing the possibility of creating AVOD platforms. Another main area of focus is expanding our network. We’re already distributing 13 services on Orange set-top boxes, and are planning to sign more partnerships with telco operators and game consoles in France and Europe. What is the next step for the company? It’s common knowledge the pandemic boosted the home entertainment industry. We were no exception and have grown a lot in the past year, signing new partnerships and strengthening our product and services. We plan on keeping up the pace! Our development is focused on helping players in new industries, such as sports, fitness or education. What one thing does the company need most right now? The best developers and product owners on the market!
