done in-camera – none in post,” says Woodham-Smith. “The potential of [virtual production] is really exciting. “We also recently shot a cinema advert for Gather, displayed at Soho House theatres, on an ALEXA Mini LF with our 18mm and 47mm Signatures,” he continues. Said prime lenses have become Plastic Fruit staples, with Clover and Woodham-Smith putting them to use on almost every project. On a multicam shoot for Louis Dunford at the Hammersmith Apollo, they operated “a combination of cameras – from the Sony FX6 to the KOMODO – again utilising the two Signature Primes.” When not creating commercials, music videos, announcements and other video-based content, Clover and Woodham-Smith are shooting stills for album covers, social media, magazine editorials and the like. “We were happy with the Piri & Tommy press shots,” enthuses Woodham-Smith, which appear on the artists’ Spotify profiles. Other notable jobs include BenjiFlow’s DMY magazine cover shoot and artwork for a Cat Burns double-sided single.
Tried and tested Plastic Fruit Studios has been working with CVP for the past five years, since its formation in 2018. It all began when the pair bought the ARRI SkyPanel S30-C – their first piece of production equipment. As a studio, Plastic Studio normally provides its own gear rather than expecting the client to bring their own, meaning they need to have a range of stock on-hand. “As we have grown, CVP has supplied us with everything – a KOMODO when it came out, a range of Aputure lights as well as a Steadicam set-up,” describes Woodham-Smith. Since then, Clover and Woodham- Smith have become frequent visitors of the CVP | ARRI Creative Space in London’s Fitzrovia neighbourhood – only a few blocks away from CVP’s new showroom. Both spots let creatives get their hands on the latest and greatest gear before committing to a purchase. “Having the facility in central London where we can
test the equipment has been invaluable,” says Woodham-Smith. “After testing, we started investing in Signature Primes. Jazzy’s NRG and Baby Queen’s live video are exclusively shot on the 47mm.” Plastic Fruit has enjoyed deepening its relationship with CVP over time. “This year, we’ve been working directly with Mungo, who really has gone the extra mile,” begins Woodham-Smith, “giving technical advice, rushing delivery of key bits of kit and finding and holding ex- showroom Signature Primes.” Overall, “working with CVP has been excellent,” beams Woodham-Smith. Thanks in large part to CVP, Plastic Fruit has been able to build up its business, collaborating with musicians from a range of styles and genres.
